Otomycosis

Otomycosis is a fungal ear infection, a superficial mycotic infection of the outer ear canal. It is more common in tropical countries.
Otomycosis can become chronic if someone does not respond to treatment or has a weakened immune system, diabetes mellitus, or a chronic skin condition, such as eczema.
Symptoms

Ear canal is itchy

  • Pain worsens with movement of the ear

Liquid coming out of ear

  • Foul smelling watery discharge

Ear canal redness

or Heat in ear canal

Ringing in ears

  • One ear

Fever

  • Less than 38°C (100.4°F), Greater than or equal to 38°C (100.4°F)

Headache

  • In the temporal region

  • Severe

Intense scratching in ear canal

Swimming

Recent antibiotic use

Treatment
Your doctor will probably prescribe antifungal ear drops. They may contain clotrimazole, fluconazole, or miconazole.
