Osteoarthritis (OA) is the

degeneration

of the

joint's

protective cartilage. It is the most common form of arthritis. Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips, and spine. When this process occurs in your shoulder joint, which is uncommon, it can cause shoulder pain and stiffness.
Glenohumeral osteoarthritis usually occurs in individuals beyond the age of 60.
