Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a life-threatening complication of diabetes, in which the body starts to break down fat as a source of energy at an extremely dangerous rate. The liver processes the fat into a fuel called ketones, which causes the blood to become acidic.

It is important that you stay hydrated.
