Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a condition in which the

endometrial tissue

is abnormally present outside of the uterus. Adenomyosis is often caused by injury or surgery of the uterus and is more common in women with multiple children. The condition is typically found in women between the ages of 35 and 50, but also affects younger women.
If left untreated, complications such as heavy bleeding can lead to anemia and if severe, may require a blood transfusion. Persistent pelvic pain or painful periods can disrupt and negatively affect one's quality of life.

Treatment
Adenomyosis often goes away after menopause, so treatment might depend on how close you are to that stage of life. Treatment options for adenomyosis include: 1-

NSAIDs

to relieve the pain. 2-Hormonal medication to inhibit the growth of endometrial tissue. 3-A

hysterectomy

is sometimes considered as a final treatment option. To ease pelvic pain and cramping related to adenomyosis, try these tips: 1-Soak in a warm bath. 2-Use a heating pad on your abdomen.
