, ischemic insult of the optic nerve head characterized by acute, monocular, painless visual loss with optic disc swelling.
It is caused by reasons other than inflammation of the arteries.
Symptoms

Blindness

  • Inferior

  • On awakening

  • Rapidly developing

The focus of treatment is on the underlying cardiovascular disease or other risk factors that help trigger and aggravate NAION. This can help control the condition and prevent additional loss of vision.
