🌈 talk about - death of a parent.
🌈 This is a beautiful and heartfelt book about one of the most difficult conversations - the death of a parent. Not only a starting point for talking about grief and loss, but also a celebration of love and memories, this is a much needed book for specific circumstances.
🌈 "Erin's daddy saw colour in everything." Someone who saw the beauty in all types of weather and in all circumstances - you can't see rainbows without rain, weeds are flowers too and that stars can't shine without the dark. Erin's daddy helps her to fill a scrapbook with all the wonders they have found together.
🌈 But then daddy becomes very unwell. The book's colour palette changes from bright and colourful to grey and dull. Hospital visits, cuddles and hushed voices fade into just quiet. Everything remains grey whilst the family come to terms with their loss. They only remember what they no longer have.
🌈 Then Erin remembers the scrapbook and shows it to her mother. Laughter and smiles return. The next day, colour begins to return as the family start doing activities again and sharing stories about daddy. And then daddy's rainbow appears.
🌈 Moving, hopeful and poignant. A beautiful book to help at a difficult time.
