POP QUIZ! Which weighs more- a pound of muscle or a pound of fat?
Trick question! They both weigh a pound😜 BUT,
The 1 pound of muscle (on the left) is much more dense, lean, and small than the 1 pound of fat (on the right).
If you knew you could have your dream body a year from now, but the scale number is not much different than it is now or perhaps higher, would you still want the dream body?
Most people would say “Yeah I would still want the body!”
Enter: body recomposition 🤩
Body recomposition is the process of losing fat while building muscle, to create that lean and toned look that a lot of folks are wanting to build.
If your goal is body recomp, here are some first steps you can take!
1️⃣ Lift weights! Not only does it burn cals, but it builds the muscle that keeps you burning MORE calories at rest all day long
2️⃣ Get enough protein- protein is essential to maintaining the muscle that you build in the gym; and, when we start to lose weight, we want to lose mostly fat, not the muscle we worked so hard on!
Focus on consistency with the above 2 things 💜
The other very important piece of fat loss is being in a calorie deficit, but I can’t say an exact number of calories to eat to lose fat because that differs person to person. Some people actually need to eat more, some people need to eat less, and others just need to work on consistency where they’re at!
