It’s not your birth. It’s her birth. Let her make her own plans!
In all seriousness, women love to share their birth stories. Especially if it was a traumatic one, or if it deviated from the birth they envisioned. Even more so if they didn’t prepare for their birth.
You want an unmedicated birth? Here are my top tips:
▫️Learn about normal, physiological childbirth.
▫️Consult with a few doctors in your area to get the scoop on birth location and provider options. You need to hire a provider who is an expert in the birth you want. You wouldn’t go to a plumber for electrical work, so why would you go to a surgeon who has a high cesarean rate with plans of a vaginal unmedicated birth?
This reduce risk of cesarean section, are associated with lower use of pain medication, and tied to greater birth satisfaction. A great doula can take your birth from “just okay” to empowering and joyful.
▫️Take a childbirth education class taught by a specialized or someone outside of the hospital. THIS is a non-negotiable. With a hospital class, you’ll learn how to be a good patient. With a private class, you’ll learn your OPTIONS and how to make sound decisions that are right for YOUR family!
▫️Prepare your mindset. Birth is 90% mental and 10% physical. Your body is gonna do what it does - but it’s your mind that allows, or doesn’t allow, that to happen.
