Ketons
Impaired metabolic function is a hallmark of Alzheimer’s and the result is a diminished ability to metabolize glucose and a worsening of conditions when the brain continues to do so. Research has shown that the metabolically damaged brain can still utilize ketones for energy offering ketosis and ketones up as a therapeutic option for minimizing the energy deficit in the Alzheimer’s brain as well as provide many additional downstream benefits. While there is a lot to figure out still, one thing is certain: ketones should be considered as a therapeutic option for dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Dementia doesn’t stop anyone from experience grief
Dementia doesn’t stop someone from experiencing grief. Remember this when your loved ones are having negative emotions, they may not be able to express their emotions and take it out on those around them…just like a lot of people without dementia do too! So, be aware that it’s natural to grieve. Give them space to do so, be there with a listening ear and shoulder to lean on even if they can’t express to you verbally they can feel your love through these moments. 💜 Caregivers, please, don’t beat yourself up if you cannot get your loved one out of this grieving state of mind. It’s a part of being human and you can’t keep people smiling 24/7. It’s ok to feel our emotions.
